RBE No. 220/1987: Railway Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules

Sub: Railway servants (Discipline and Appeal) Amendment Rules, 1987.

GSR ……… In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution, the President hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Railway Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1968, namely:

1.     (1)   These rules may be called the Railway Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Amendment Rules, 1987.

(2)   They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 

2.     In rule 6 of the Railway Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1968, after the existing proviso and before the Explanation, the following proviso shall be inserted, namely:

Provided further that in cases of persons found guilty of having accepted or having obtained from any person any gratification, other than legal remuneration, as a motive or reward for doing or forbearing to do any official act, one of the penalties specified in clauses (viii) or (ix) shall ordinary be imposed and where such penalty is not imposed, the reasons therefor shall be recorded in writing.”
