RBE No.20/2018: Boxing Championships

Sub: Modification in the nomenclature of International Boxing Championships and change in the age group of Junior National Boxing Championships for the purpose of recruitment and/or incentives against sports quota.
Ref: (i) Railway Board’s Policy letter No.2010/E(Sports)/4(1)/1(Policy), dated 31.12.2010 (RBE 189B/2010),
(ii) Corrigendum No.37 issued vide this office letter of even no. dated 11.09.2013 (RBE No.92/2013).

1. Please connect Board’s letter dated 11.09.2013 (RBE No.92/2013) under reference (ii) above vide which it was advised that the age group for Junior National Boxing Championships in Men and Women categories, as mentioned at S. No.9 of Annexure-I of Board’s policy letter dated 31.12.2010 (RBE 189B/2010) under reference (i) may be read as 17-18 years instead of Under-16.

2. In this connection, it is advised that Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has modified the nomenclature of the Boxing Championships based on the guidelines of AIBA, the World Governing Body of Olympic Boxing. As per the revised nomenclature advised by BFI, the Boxing championship previously known as “Junior Boxing Championships with the age category of 17-18 years are now known as “Youth” Boxing Championships.

3. In view of the above, para no. 3 of Board’s Policy letter under reference (i) above stands modified as under:-

Note: In boxing discipline, the achievements of players in “Youth” category on or after 25.09.2016 in International Championships will be considered in place of “Junior” category.

4. Further, SN/9 of Annexure-I of Board’s Policy letter under reference (i) above stands modified as under:-

5. The above mentioned modifications in the policy letter dated 31.12.2010 will be applicable for all future recruitments of boxes against sports quota and also for the cases of recruitment of boxes which have not been finalized (where trials are yet to be conducted) till issue of these instructions.
