RBE No. 185/2019: Training – To TTEs – On Illegal Transportation of Wildlife and Contraband Items.

Sub: Training to TTEs for creating awareness of prevention of use of Railways for illegal transportation of wildlife and contraband items.

Ministry of Railways has decided that awareness of prevention of use of Indian Railways for illegal transportation of Wildlife and Contraband Items are to be included in the training module of Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs). Duration of the training will be one day comprising of following training module:-

That module comprises the following:-
(a) Present trend of smuggling/ trafficking of wildlife & its parts, products and derivatives.
(b) Legislations (WLPS, CITES, FTP, PMLA etc.) on wildlife and Railways Booking Rules.
(c) Identification of wildlife & its parts, products/ articles and derivatives with hands on session (with real specimen).
(d) Modus operandi of smuggling through Railways (concealment, mis-declaration, forged documentation etc.) with case studies.
(e) Prevention of use of Railways for illegal transportation of wildlife contrabands and red Sander logs/ Agarwood etc.
(f) Search, seizure and detection procedure and handing over the case to local Forest/ Police Authorities.
(g) Awareness generation and inter-agency coordination/ sharing of information with other agencies.
