RBE No. 167/1988: Fixation of Pay – On Re-employment

Sub: Fixation of pay on re-employment of pensioners.

Reference is invited to the instructions issued vide Board’s letter of even number dated 21.01.1987 regarding fixation of pay on re-employment of railway employees, retired, Central/ State Government employees, retired Defence personnel, etc. In para 4(b)(ii) it has been provided that in cases where the entire pension and pensionay benefits are not ignored for pay fixation, the non-ignorable parts of pension and pension equivalent of retirement benefit shall be reduced from the pay so fixed.

It has now been decided that in fixing the initial pay of re-employed pensioners, the pension equivalent of gratuity may not be deducted from the pay so fixed. Accordingly, it is requested that the pay of the re-employed pension may be fixed as per this modification.

These instructions are effective from 01.06.1988.

This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways, Railway Board.
