RBE No.142/2010: Retention of Railway accommodation – Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla project

Sub: Retention of railway accommodation at the previous place of posting in favour of officers/ staff posted to Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla New Line Construction Project and to open line/ maintenance work.
1. Retention of Railway accommodation at the previous place of posting in favour of officers/ staff posted to Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar New Line Construction Project was last permitted upto 14.08.2009 (RBE No. 31/2008). Following receipt of proposals from various sections and in view of non completion of the work within the stipulated time period the issue of further extension of the relaxation was under consideration of Board for quite some time.
2. The matter has been considered by the Board and in exercise of powers vested with the full Board for making reasonable relaxation in public interest in all or any of the existing provisions regarding allotment/ retention of Railway quarter and charging the rent therefor for a class/ group of employees the full Board have decided as under:
(i) Vide Board’s letter No.E(G)2001 QR1-14, dated 12.03.2008 (RBE No. 31/2008) officers/ staff posted to Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar New Line Construction Project was permitted to retention of Railway accommodation at previous place of posting upto target date of completion of the project i.e. upto 14.08.2009. Such officers/ staff will now be entitled to retention of Railway accommodation at previous place of posting for a further period of 3 years i.e. upto 14.08.2012 or the completion of the project whichever is earlier.
(ii) It has also been decided to allow henceforth retention of quarters at previous place of posting by the officers/ staff even in case of allotment of quarters at their present place of posting i.e. Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar Project area.
(iii) Henceforth, the facility of retention of Railway accommodation at previous place of posting and present place of posting i.e. Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar Project area is also extended to the officers/ staff posted to the open line/ maintenance works.
