RBE No.137/1988: Fixation of Pay – On Promotion

Sub: Recommendation of the Fourth Central Pay Commission – Decisions relating to fixation of pay on promotion/ appointment from one post to another carrying duties and responsibilities of greater importance.

1. Reference this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 04.05.1987 (RBE No. 105/1987) on the above subject. The Government have further examined the recommendations contained in paragraph 23.15 of the Report of the Fourth Central Pay Commission on a representation made by the Staff Side of the JCM (National Council) and have decided to accept the same. Accordingly, in supersession of all the various existing orders on the subject, the President is pleased to decide that when a Railway servant is promoted or appointed to another post carrying duties and responsibilities of greater importance than those attached to the post held by him, the provisions contained in Rule 2018-B [FR 22-C] R.II shall apply for fixing his pay subject to the condition that the amount to be added to pay in the lower post before fixing the pay in the higher post should not be less than Rs.25 (Rupees Twenty Five only).

2. Correction slip to the Indian Railway Establishment Code (Vol.II) will follow. 

3. These orders shall take effect from 1st January, 1986.

    Thanks for uploading such old RBEs, but not able to download RBE 137/88 from the above given link. Please resolve
