RBE No. 134/1993: Defence Helper – Rest House Facility

Sub: Railway Servants (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1968 – Question whether retired railway servants allowed to act as Defence Helper can be allowed free stayal in Railway rest houses.

1.     A demand has been raised by the staff side (AIRF) for extension of the facility of Railway Rest House/ Subordinate Rest House to the retired Railway employees acting as Defence Helper in DAR enquiries as admissible on tour to serving Railway employees, in addition to the facilities given to them vide para 2 of Board’s letter of even number dated 05.11.1992 (RBE No. 183/1992) (wrongly quoted as E(D&A)90 RG6-148 in letter dated 05.11.1992).

2.     The matter has been considered in Board’s office and it has been decided that the retired Railway employees acting as Defence Assistants may be allowed to stay in Railway Rest House/ Subordinate Rest House, while they are attending the DAR Enquiry at the outstation.

3.     This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of this Ministry.
