RBE No. 104/2007: Staff Cars – Entitlement of

Sub: Entitlement of staff cars.

1. As the Railway administration are aware, in terms of extant instructions, the General Managers, AGMs, PHODs, DRMs and SDGMs are entitled to have a staff cars for their official use.

2. The matter regarding transportation arrangement on the Railways has been reviewed by the Board. It has now been decided that except for the vehicles of the following officers, all other vehicles shall be taken on hire:-

Secretary, Railway Board, all Members of Board and above.

GM and AGM with one stand-by vehicle for Zonal Railway Headquarters.

DRM and ADRM

3. Detailed instructions regarding hiring of vehicles have been issued separately.

4. With the coming into effect of the above decision, PHODs, CHODs and SDGMs would not be entitled to have individual staff cars. They would, however, be entitled for individual hired vehicles. However, the PHODs, CHODs and SDGMs who are having individual staff cars at present may continue to use them till these vehicles become due for condemnation.

5. All other instructions issued from time to time regarding replacement of staff car, models to be used as staff cars, etc., will continue to remain in force.

6. In terms of instructions contained in Board’s letter No.E(G)2003 AL4/8, dated 17.05.2004 (RBE No. 101/2004), only the General Managers, Addl. Members of Railway Board and other officers in equivalent or higher grade viz.,  DG/RHS, DG/RPF, DG/RDSO, DG/ Railway Staff College and Secretary/ Railway Board are entitled for air-conditioned staff cars or use of air-condition vehicle on hire. These instructions are reiterated for strict compliance.

7. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
