RBE No.05/2002: GDCE – Jurisdictions of RRBs

Sub: Scheme of General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) – conduct of examinations through Railway Recruitment Boards.
Ref: Railway Board’s letter No.E(NG)I-2000/PM 2/12, dated 21.08.2001 (RBE No.165/2001).
1. The scope of scheme of General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) for filling up 25% direct recruitment quota posts in Group ‘C’ categories has been widened in terms of Board’s letter dated 21.08.2001(RBE No.165/2001) mentioned above.
2. In this context, Board have laid down the following procedure to be followed by Railways/ RRBs:-
(1) As mentioned in para 2(iii) of Board’s letter quoted above, GDCE will be conducted by the nominated RRB along with direct recruitment examination conducted for the same category, with a separate mark list for GDCE category.
In a case where substantial delay beyond the normal time for finalization of recruitment from open market is expected, GDCE may be separated from the open market recruitment with personal approval of Chairman/RRB.
(2) Following RRBs are nominated to cater for Zonal Railways indicated against each of them along with Production Units located in the geographical area of the railway:-
(i) RRB/Ajmer – Western Railway
(ii) RRB/Allahabad – Northern Rly, DLW, DCW, RCF
(iii) RRB/Chennai – Southern Railway, ICF, WAP
(iv) RRB/Guwahati – N.F. Railway
(vi) RRB/Kolkata – S.E. Railway
(vii) RRB/Gorakhpur – N.E. Railway
(viii) RRB/Mumbai – Central Railway
(ix) RRB/Patna – Eastern Railway, Metro Railway, CLW
(x) RRB/Secunderabad – S.C. Railway
(3) The railway, while placing an indent on RRB, shall invite applications for GDCE and pass on the details of eligible applicants to the concerned RRB.
(4) RRB will ensure that those candidates are called to appear for GDCE either along with direct applicants for outside selection or in a separate selection for the departmental candidates, as per the decision taken with reference to Para 2(1) above.
