Para-Medical: Engagement of Retired Staff

Sub: Engagement of para-medical categories in Group ‘C’ on contract basis.

Ref:  Railway Board’s letter of even No. dated 28.03.2020.

Keeping in view the outbreak of Corona Virus disease, it was decided to authorized General Manager/ CAO/ DRMs to engage retired Paramedical staff upto age of 65 years or to hire Paramedical staff on Contract basis for a period of one month over and above the sanctioned strength of the cadre depending upon the requirement vide Board’s above referred letter as a purely temporary measure with stipulation that after one month, the status quo ante will be restored with regard to total strength and delegation of power unless extended by further orders.

However, since the alarming situation owing to outbreak of Corona Virus disease continues to be unabated, it has been decided to hire the retired Para-medical staff up to the age of 65 years or to hire Para-medical staff on Contract basis for a period of three month instead of one month as decided vide Board’s earlier letter dated 28.03.2020 with stipulation that after expiry of three months, the status quo ante will be restored with regard to total strength and delegation of power unless extended by further orders. The mode of engagement may be decided by the General Manager/ CAO.

The concurrence of the Associate Finance at Railway/ PU/ Divisional Level may be obtained before resorting to engagement in terms of these instructions.

This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board).
