Sub: Initial training period – Counting towards eligibility for appearing in departmental examinations.

1. In terms of instructions contained in this Ministry’s letter No.E(NG)I-81/PM1/76, dated 25.04.1981, the time spent by a Railway servant under training immediately before appointment to service is to be counted as service for the purpose of appearing in departmental examination.
2. It is clarified that the ‘departmental examination’ include Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for promotion to Group ‘B’.
