Identity Cards: Penalty for Loss

Sub: Enhancement of penalty of loss/ Mutilation/ late Renewal of Identity Cards.

The following charges are being taken as penalty for loss/ mutilation/ late renewal of Identity Cards presently:-

(i) Loss of Identity Card – Rs.10

(ii) Mutilation – Rs.1

(iii) Late renewal beyond one month – Rs.1

Ministry of Home Affairs vide their OM. No.32015/25/99-SSO(PC), dated 09.02.2000 have enhanced the charges as given below which will be applicable with immediate effect:-

(i) Penalty for loss of Identity Card – Rs.100

(ii) Penalty for mutilation of Identity Card – Rs.50

(iii) Penalty for late renewal of Identity card/ pass beyond one month – Rs.25 for each month or part thereof upto a maximum of Rs.100.
