House Rent Allowance: RBE No.33/1987 – Classification of Bareilly (UP)

Sub: Classification of Cities/ towns for the purpose of Compensatory (City) Allowance and House Rent Allowance to Railway Employees on the basis of 1981 Census figures – Case of Bareilly in UP for reclassification.

1.     Reference Board’s letter No.E(P&A)II/83/HRA-4, dated 11.03.1983 on the subject mentioned above. Consequent upon the reconstitution of Bareilly, Bareilly Nagar Mahapalika, by addition of new areas to municipal limits of Bareilly, vide Government of Uttar Pradesh Notification No.8313-A/11 N.V.7-107 K/78, dated 13.11.1981, the President is pleased to decide that Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, as reconstituted, may be included in the list of ‘B-2’ Class Cities contained in the Annexures-I and II to the Board’s letter No.E(P&A)II/83/HRA-4, dated 11.03.1983, referred to above, for the purpose of grant of Compensatory (City) Allowance and House Rent Allowance to Railway Employees working in Bareilly.

2.     These orders shall take effect from 01.08.1982.

3.     This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
