Defence Assistant: RBE No.83/2003 – Conditions for Retired Railway Servants

Sub:     Railway Servants (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1968 Choice of Retired Railway Servants as Defence Assistant Conditions regarding.

1. In terms of Item (iv) of para 1 of Board’s letter No.E(D&A)92/RG6-148, dated 05.11.1992 (RBE No.183/1992), a retired railway servant can act as a Defence Assistant in disciplinary cases in a maximum of five cases at a time. It has now been decided to enhance the above ceiling to seven cases at a time. Accordingly, Item (iv) of para 1 of Board’s letter of 05.11.1992 (RBE No.183/1992) may be substituted as under:

“The retired railway servant concerned should not act as a defence helper in more than seven cases at a time. The retired railway servant should satisfy the inquiring authority that he does not have more than seven cases at hand including the case in question.”

2. The above has the approval of the President.
