Sub: Reservation against PTOs.
1. The subject regarding issue of ticket against PTO has been examined and the following procedure be adopted by the Zonal Railways on a trial basis till 31.12.2001:-
(i) PTO should be addressed to ‘IR’ instead of “SS…”
(ii) PTOs be allowed to be exchanged firom any terminal or location of PRS irrespective of the Station from which the journey is originating.
(iii) All PRS locations shall issue tickets in exchange of PTOs irrespective of the station being a local station or a foreign station.
(iv) All PRS locations shall issue tickets in exchange of PTOs even if the total journey is longer than the portion for which reservation is asked for or when the reservation is asked for from an intermediate station.
For example:-
“If a PTO is available from Palampur to BCT and reservation is applied for from Pathankot as Railways do not offer reservation facilities on Joginder Nagar-Pathankot Station in any of the trains”.
(v) However for current booking, such PTOs addressed to ‘IR’ shall be exchanged on booking counters of journey-commencing stations only.
2. Traffic Accounts office of the Railway where PTO has been exchanged should send collected PTOs (Accounts copy) received by them along with a list to the Traffic Accounts office of the PTO issuing Railway for necessary internal audit. In case any irregularity is noticed, the issuing Railway’s Traffic Accounts office will advise Traffic Accounts office exchanging PTO to dis-allow the credit of concession order.
3. This issues with the concurrence of Finance and Commercial Directorates in the Ministry of Railways.
