Daily Allowance: RBE No.24/1987 – Observance of Economy

Sub: Need for observance of utmost economy in the matter of grant of TA/DA for prolonged periods -Administrative instructions – regarding.
1. On the recommendations of the IV Pay Commission, orders have been issued on grant of full daily allowance on tour/ temporary transfer/ training for a period upto 180 days vide Board’s letter No.PC-IV/86/Imp/AL-7, dated 09.01.1987.
2. With the liberalisation in entitlement of full DA upto 180 days, the Board have decided that utmost economy should be observed in the incidence of expenditure on account of Travelling Allowance/ Daily Allowance for prolonged periods. Except in the cases of relieving staff and deputation of staff for training, occasions for sending staff on long period on tour/ temporary transfers upto 180 days should be very rare. As far as temporary transfer is concerned, this should be approved only in exigency of public service in exceptional cases.
