Overtime: RBE No.147/1986 – On Up-gradation of Technical Supervisors Cadre

Sub: Payment of overtime to the upgraded posts of Chargemen/ Asstt. Shop Supdts., as a result of up-gradation of the cadre of Technical Supervisors with effect from 01.01.1984.

1.     Consequent to restructuring of cadre of Technical Supervisors, the posts of Chargernan ‘A’ have been upgraded with retrospective effect, i.e. from 01.01.1984 as Deputy/ Assistant Shop Superintendents. A number of such staff who had consequently become ineligible to the benefit of overtime allowance with retrospective effect (01.01.1984) had already drawn this allowance for the period from 01.01.1984.

2.     The National Federation of Indian Railwaymen, in their PNM meeting held with the Department of Railways on 21/22.07.1986 represented that recoveries of over payments of overtime allowance to the staff referred to in para 1 above should be waived. The request has been agreed to. Accordingly, recoveries of overtime allowance to such staff should not be enforced.

3.     However, no overtime payment will be admissible to the incumbents of these posts from the date of actual promotion.

4.     This has the approval of the Finance Directorate of the Department of Railways.
