Recruitment: RBE No.113/85 – Drawing Office Cadre

Sub: Drawing office cadre recruitment in scale Rs.260-430 (RS).

Please refer to this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 27.02.1985 (RBE No.60/1985) on the above subject. In continuation thereof, the Railway Administrations are hereby advised that the Ministry of Railways have decided as under:

(i) Alternative avenues of advancement for the Group ‘D’ (Class IV) staff for whom the posts of Tracers are in the line of advancement at present, should be examined as laid down by each Zonal Railway in consultation with their recognised Unions. Similar review and revision should be made by the Production Units also. This should be done within a period of three months. In any case, no vacancies in the posts of Tracers should be filled by promotion after the 30thJune, 1985. [The direct recruitment quota already stands frozen with the issue of instructions in this Ministry’s letter dated 27.02.1985 (RBE No.60/1985) cited above.]

(ii) If, any panels for the posts of Tracers against indents already placed by the Railways and Production Units have since been received from the Railway Recruitment Boards, the candidate in such a panel may be considered for vacancies in the initial recruitment grades of Rs.260-400 & Rs.260-430 of posts filled through mass examination for non-technical popular categories (NTPC). This is, subject to candidates concerned being willing to be so considered. Their willingness in this regard should be ascertained by the respective Railway Administration. Their suitability for appointment to posts in the aforesaid categories should be adjudged by a committee of officers to be formed on each Railway for this purpose.

(iii) The Railway Recruitment Boards are being hereby advised that:

(a)   Where they have already notified the vacancies in the categories of Tracers but examinations are still to be conducted by them, the candidates, therefor should be examined for posts of staff like office clerks, accounts clerks, commercial clerks, etc. in the initial recruitments grades of Rs.260-400, Rs.260-430 as mentioned above. In case any candidates for the post of Tracer is not willing to be so considered, he may be treated as having withdrawn his application from the RRB; and

(b)   Where examinations for the posts of Tracers have already been held by the RRBs but interviews are still to be held, the interview should be suitably structured with the aforesaid end in view.
