Kindly find enclosed a copy of the Notification G.S.R. 117 dated 15th May, 2006 published in Part II, section 3, sub-section (I) of the Gazette of India on 20th May, 2006 issued by Ministry of Labour & Employment Directorate General of Employment & Training relating to the revising of the entry qualification in respect of designated trades Foundry Man, Sheet Metal Worker, Welder (Gas & Electric) and Carpenter and amending the Apprenticeship Rules 1992 under the Apprentices Training Scheme, for information and necessary action.

NOTIFICATION
GSR 117 – In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (I) of Section 37 of the Apprentices Act, 1961 (52 of 1961) the Central Government, after consulting the Central Apprenticeship Council, hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, namely:-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules, 2006.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In Schedule 1 to the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992:
(i) Under Group number 2, against serial number 2 relating to the Designated Trade Foundryman, in column 8, for the entry “Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent”, the entry “Passed 8th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent (Passed 7th class where terminal examination is in class 7th)” shall be substituted.
(ii) Under Group number 3:
(a) Against serial number 2, relating to the Designated Trade Sheet Metal Worker, in column 8, for the entry “Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent”, the entry “Passed 8th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent (Passed 7th class where terminal examination is in class 7th)” shall be substituted.
(b) Against serial number 3, relating to the Designated Trade Welder (Gas and Electric), in column 8, for the entry “Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent”, the entry “Passed 8th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent (Passed 7th class where terminal examination is in class 7th)” shall be substituted.
(iii) Under Group number 5, against serial number 1, relating to the Designated Trade Carpenter, in column 8, for the entry “Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent”, the entry “Passed 8th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent (Passed 7th class where terminal examination is in class 7th)” shall be substituted.
