RBE No. 71/1992: Promotion – Procedure to be Adopted by the Selection Boards

Sub: Procedure to be adopted by the Selection Boards for promotion of non-gazetted Railway staff.

1. As per the existing instructions contained in Board’s letter No.E(NG)I/79/PM1/320, dated 23.12.1979, all the members of the Selection Board should independently assess the candidates under the different headings of Personality, Leadership etc., and record their marks in the marksheets given to them which should be signed and handed over to the Personnel Officer for compiling the result. The evaluation chart prepared by the Personnel Officer is to be signed thereafter by all the members of the Selection Board.
2. The above procedure has been reviewed by the Board. As it was found to be quite cumbersome in practice. It has been decided to revoke the same and to restore the earlier practice of having a single evaluation sheet, to be signed by all the members of the Selection Board. Corrections in the evaluation sheet, if any, should also be attested by all the members of the Selection Board.
