RBE No. 46/2006: Dearness Allowance – Revised Rates – Effective from 01.01.2006

Sub: Payment of Dearness Allowance to Railway employees – Revised Rates effective from 01.01.2006.

1. Reference to this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 13.10.2005 (RBE No.172/2005) on the subject mentioned above. The President is pleased to decide that the Dearness Allowance payable of Railway employees with effect from 1st January, 2006, shall stand modified as follows:

2. The provisions contained in paras 3 and 4 of Ministry’s letter No.PC-V/97/1/7/14, dated 16.10.1997 (RBE No. 139/1997) shall continue to be applicable, while regulating Dearness Allowance under those orders.
3. The additional installment of Dearness Allowance payable under these orders shall be paid in cash to all Railway employees. The arrears may be charged to the salary bill for April, 2006 and no honorarium is payable for preparing separate bill for this purpose.
4. The payment on account of Dearness Allowance involving fraction of 50 paise and above may be rounded off to the next higher rupee and the fraction of less than 50 paise may be ignored.
5. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
