Sub: Revision of designation of “Safaiwala” in Indian Railways.
The issue of revision of resignation of post with the nomenclature “Safaiwala” in Indian Railways has been under consideration of this Ministry. The Railway Board in consultation with both staff federations, have decided that the existing designation “Safaiwala” in all departments of Indian Railways be replaced henceforth by the revised designation of “House Keeping Assistant” with the Department/ branch name suffixed thereafter in parentheses “(….)”.
Accordingly, the revised designation in various Departments is illustrated below:-
