Diesel/Electric Assistants: RBE No.120/2004 – Educational qualification

No.E(NG)-II/2000/RR-1/47, dated 07.6.2004

Sub: Educational qualification for Diesel/Electric Assistants in the Pay scale of Rs.3050-4590.

1. In partial modification of the instructions contained in Board’s letter of even number dated 03.08.2001 (RBE No.152/2001) inter alia laying down the educational qualifications for recruitment to the post of Diesel/Electric Assistant, it has now been decided by the Board to include Diploma in Automobile Engineering in the list of qualifications prescribed for direct recruitment to the post of Diesel/Electric Assistant in the pay scale of Rs.3050-4590.

2. These instructions will be effective from the date of the issue of this letter. However, past cases wherein Diploma in Automobile Engineering has been considered as equivalent to Diploma in Mechanical Engineering need not be re-opened.

3. Indian Railway Establishment Manual, Vol.I (1989 Edition) may be amended incorporating the above and related changes as per Advance Correction Slip (ACS) No.162 enclosed.

Chapter-I, Section-B, Sub-Section-III, Recruitment and Training Para 137(2)(i)(b) may be substituted as under:

“(b) Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile Engineering in lieu of ITI”.
