5 Days Week: RBE No.199/1985 – Introduction of
No.E(LL)85/HER/1-15, dated 04.07.1985
Sub: Introduction of 5 days week in the administrative offices of the Government of India.
In partial modification of the Board’s letter of even number dated the 24th May, 1985 on the above subject, it has now been decided that the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (where it exists) or the Head of Office (where such a Committee does not exist) in consultation with the representatives of the recognised Unions Staff Councils would have the option to choose any time between 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. to start their offices, with 8 hours working day (inclusive of half an hour lunch break). This will however, be subject to the condition that all the Central Government offices located at one place should have the same office timings.
It may be noted that offices located in Delhi will continue to observe office timings as per Board’s letter dated 24.05.1985.
