No.E(NG)II/87/RC-2/25, dated 24.06.1988
Sub: Filling in vacancies of skilled artisans from the open market – Age limit for Act Apprentices.
1. Attention is invited to Board’s letter No.E(NG)III/79/RR-1/38, dated 20.02.1980 clarifying that in the case of persons eligible to be considered in accordance with para 1(ii) of Board’s letter dated 24.02.1979 against the quota for recruitment from the open market, upper age limit of 25 years should be observed and that this age limit should be with reference to the age at the time of commencement of the apprenticeship in the case of course completed Act Apprentices only.
2. The question of specifying some upper age limit for this purpose has been under consideration of the Board for some time. The Board have decided that while the provisions of the circulars cited above will continue to hold good, the upper age limit in the case of a candidate who had commenced his apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act before attaining the age of 25 years, will be 35 years. These instructions may please be followed in all future recruitment.
