Protocol Officer: Ex-cadre Group ‘B’ Post

Sub: Ex-cadre Group ‘B’ Post of Protocol Officer.

1. To bring uniformity in filling up the ex-cadre Group ‘B’ posts of Protocol Officer/ Liaison Officer operating on the Zonal Railways, a proposal has been under consideration of the Railway Board for laying down the guidelines/ eligibility criteria for filling up these posts. However, in the meantime, Board have decided that all the present incumbents who are working on adhoc basis on the Group ‘B’ post of Protocol Officer/ Liaison Officer and have been selected to the post on the basis of Viva-voce, assessment of APARs and experience, should be considered to hold the post on a regular basis from the date of issue of these instructions as a one time measure. It may be confirmed by respective Railways/ PUs that the above procedure had been followed before any further regularization is done.

2. It has also be in decided by the Board that hencefourth these posts shall be designated in Group ‘B’ as ‘Protocol Officer’ and rest of the similar designations shall cease to exist. Furthermore, not more than 2 posts of Protocol Officer in a Railway/ PU can be operated – one at Head-quarter’s level and the other at a station chosen by the General Manager and the incumbents to the post shall remain under the administrative control of the GM’s office.

3. In future all Protocol Officers shall be selected based on Recruitment Rules which will be issured shortly.
