RBE No. 218/2009: House Rent Allowance

Sub: Grant of House Rent Allowance to Railway employees posted to new Zone/ new Divisions – Regarding.

1.     Attention is invited to the instructions contained in Board’s letter of even number dated 09.03.2004 (RBE No. 48/2004), 09.08.2005, 09.08.2006 (RBE No. 106/2006), 12.12.2007 (RBE No. 159/2007) and 24.10.2008 (RBE No. 159/2008) on the above object. As per letter dated 24.10.2008 (RBE No. 159/2008) only railway staff posted to East Central Railway were allowed house rent allowance at the rates admissible at their last place of posting up to 31.08.2009.

2.     The matter has been considered by the Board subsequent to issue of letter No.E(G)2008 QR1-1, dated 22.05.2019 (RBE No. 88/2009) and it has been decided that Railway employees posted to new zones/ divisions in a uniform manner, may be allowed house rent allowance upto 31.08.2009 on the same terms and conditions laid down in the letter dated 09.03.2004 ibid and as amended/ clarified from time to time. 

3.     This issue with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
